Home visitation is traditionaly the preferred work of the Legion. We extend this service in harmony with the practices of Christ. There are many Gospel examples of home visits that have been instrumental in conversion, healing, and strengthing of faith. For example, the second Joyful Mystery relays the story of Mary's visitation to Elisabeth and reminds us of the love of our neighbour. |
| The church's pastoral concern need not be limited to just Christian families but all individuals and families no matter what thier faith or lack of it. Christ came into the world not for those of faith but to convert the faithless and lost. So the Legion will go from house to house to develop a personal relationship with each and every soul. | ![]() |
When visiting, legionaries must first introduce themselves and explain why they are there. Often visitation is for the enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home, Parish Census, and the dissemination of Catholic literature. There may be many more reasons for home visits and each praesidium is encouraged to plan its approach and to try to come into contact with all members of the family. Every home should be viewed with regard to giving sevice. This is accomplished through simplicity and humility, thus listening is a very important aspect of Legionary visits. The legionary must try and put him or herself in the shoes of the person being visited. Having listened patienty, the Legionary will win the right to be heard. Such is the apostolate of the Legion.
